Elizabeth Moore
“The landscape is, and has always been, my muse. When I paint I become completely engrossed in the process of applying paint and creating texture. Although I begin with a clear idea of the subject I wish to portray, I allow the interpretation onto canvas to evolve as the painting experience captures me. It becomes something of a serendipitous journey. The mystery of the painting process is hidden in layers of paint and texture and something is created that can never be duplicated.”
Elizabeth holds a Bachelor’s degree from UBC and while there studied Applied Design and Textile Arts. After moving to the Okanagan, she continued to develop drawing skills with courses in Fine Arts at Okanagan College. Around the same time she discovered the Federation of Canadian Artist’s Foundation Program, which offered study with working artists. Elizabeth’s art education continues to this day by studying with a broad range of noted North American artists.
Elizabeth loves the freedom of working in watermedia, and especially acrylic paints. She finds acrylics exciting in their ability to replicate both watercolour and oil, and their compatibility with other media. Elizabeth’s studio is in Vernon, BC. Her paintings can be found in private and corporate collections in North America, Europe and the Far East.
